Revenge
A painter from Delhi on what humans take from nature
Acrylic dries fast, the way a season turns.
A bird remembers a tree that is no longer there.
The sky over the city is grey above the traffic.
Something we took is coming back to ask for it.
It does not shout. It waits at the edge of the colour.
We stand in front of it and feel the ground under our feet.
The work
Ajay Kushwaha makes Revenge in acrylic in 2026. Kushwaha grows up in Delhi and spends his childhood with the sky, animals and birds. For him, nature is the place that takes you away from "the hustle and bustle of the society." His paintings start from nature, animals, birds, landscapes and flowers. He tries to weave a story into each one. He wants to show people the changes taking place in nature. He trains as a painter at College of Art Delhi and now at College of Art Chandigarh.
In the artist’s words
“My paintings are mostly inspired by nature, animals, birds, landscapes and flowers. I try to weave a story in my paintings and show people the changes taking place in nature. I want to show humanity as part of nature. If there is no nature, life is not possible.”
