Ajay
Maa ki karuna
She holds a fawn while the sky behind her burns
Green hands cup a fawn no bigger than a loaf of bread.
Her skin is bark. Her veins are roots that run down into the ground.
Behind her the sky turns orange and red and the light breaks into honeycomb.
Her dark hair streams out into the heat.
She does not look at the burning.
She looks at the small spotted life she keeps.
