Aakarshan
Two deer turn their heads as thin lines cross the green
A green like pond water fills the air behind them.
The doe turns toward him. He turns toward her.
His antlers rise like bare branches into the light.
Pink leaves lean in from the right, heavy and close.
Thin blue lines run over fur and leaf alike,
as if the picture was once broken and joined again.
Still the two of them stand, listening.
The work
Ajay Kushwaha grew up in Delhi. He studied painting at the College of Art in Delhi and now studies for his Masters at the College of Art in Chandigarh. Since childhood he has loved spending time with animals, birds and the sky. In Aakarshan he paints a doe and a stag in oil. They stand close in a soft green light beside tall pink leaves. Thin raised lines run across the whole surface. Kushwaha wants his paintings to show people the changes taking place in nature.
