K. Shreya
Virat kohli
A sideways glance and a hard frown, built from charcoal
Pale paper. A brow pulled down hard.
The beard is black on black, packed tight like wet soil.
Light rests on the nose, the cheek, one bright eye.
The hair rises in quick strokes, then stops.
He does not smile.
In the corner, two words in a small hand: Run Machine.
The work
K. Shreya draws Virat Kohli in a close three-quarter view. The head turns away but the eyes glance sideways. Shreya wants a realistic portrait. Charcoal pencils do both the sketching and the shading. The hardest part is the face. Getting the proportions right takes care. So do the hair and beard. Each needs its own texture built up in short dark strokes. The words "Run Machine" sit in the lower left corner. Shreya studies at Stanley in Hyderabad. The drawing is from 2024.
In the artist’s words
“I was trying to draw a realistic pencil portrait. I used charcoal pencils for sketching and shading. The most difficult part was getting the facial proportions right and creating realistic hair and beard textures.”
