A purple bird waits under its own green roof
A small bird wears the colour of evening.
Short purple strokes stand up like breath in cold air.
One blue stripe, bright as a cut in the sky.
A leaf bends over it, a green roof in rain.
The black mask, the one white spark of an eye.
It holds the stem and waits.
The work
Bird is from 2023. K. Shreya studies at Stanley in Hyderabad. A round bird sits on a thin green stem. Its chest is soft purple, made of many short strokes that look like feathers. A band of bright blue runs down its side and brown covers its back. A black stripe crosses its eye. A long leaf curves over its head like a roof. Shreya leaves the paper plain around the bird so it stands alone.

In the artist’s words
Virat kohli - I was trying to draw a realistic pencil portrait. I used charcoal pencils for sketching and shading. The most difficult part was getting the facial proportions right and creating realistic hair and beard textures. 2. Peacock - I was trying to draw a colorful peacock and highlight the beauty of its feathers. I used color pencils on white paper and focused on adding bright colors and fine details. The most difficult part was drawing the many feathers neatly and making the colors look balanced and realistic.
