Mohit
Her Inner World
She speaks, pauses and bends low inside a gold ring
A woman sits on a cool floor and lifts her hand to speak.
Behind her, the same woman waits in blue, soft as breath on glass.
A gold ring floats above her head, thin as a bangle.
She smiles. She leans forward. She laughs toward the floor.
The edges of the blue fray like dried paint on white paper.
Three small rooms hold one person. The blue keeps what the light let go.
The work
Her Inner World is a row of three prints made in 2023. In each, a black and white photograph shows a woman sitting cross-legged on a floor. Behind her, a brushed patch of cyanotype blue holds a faint, larger image of the same woman. A thin gold circle rings her head. Mohit, from Amity University in Haryana, starts with photography. A background in painting guides how colour, texture and space are layered. Each image is reworked until it holds both the real moment and a personal reading of it.
In the artist’s words
“I was trying to look at an ordinary subject from a different perspective. I used photography as the main medium and worked with composition, sequencing and the physical qualities of the image. The hard part was balancing documentation and interpretation. I reworked the images until they felt honest. An image can hold more than what is immediately visible.”
