Acrylic with Gouache on Canvas

Peacocks circle a world small enough to hold in two hands

Grey dusk on the left. A branch white as bone.
A spotted deer stretches her neck to taste the bark.
The stag looks out at us, antlers wide as a dry river.
On the pale side, peacocks flash orange like struck matches.
They ring a green ball of fern and moss and cones.
A tiny deer runs from it into all that white.

The work

Satadru Sovan Banduri paints in acrylic with gouache on canvas. Here the canvas itself has soft uneven edges, like a pool or a leaf. On the left a spotted deer and an antlered stag press out of dark grey ground beside a pale bare branch. On the right peacocks with orange wings circle a small round world of ferns, moss and cones. A tiny stag leaps from it. Banduri builds surreal landscapes where animals and birds meet what he calls "planet-wide grief."
