1.Where Wings Dare not Wander
Every bird here sits inside a frame that is starting to crack
A lily opens red against the white.
A small bird holds still beside an iris the colour of a bruise.
Butterflies fold blue wings over leaves that never touch soil.
Around each bunch the white swells in slow ridges like poured plaster.
A thin crack runs in from the edge.
The flowers do not know it is there.
The work
Satadru Sovan Banduri paints the fragile life of the planet. Here nine white panels sit in a grid. Each one holds a cluster of flowers, birds and butterflies in acrylic with gouache. The colours are bright and exact, like plates in an old nature book. But the white around them rises in soft wavy ridges. Thin cuts run in from the edges. Banduri does not treat the damage to nature as a matter of figures. He calls it "planet-wide grief."
In the artist’s words
“I frame environmental collapse as a profound spiritual rupture. I construct surreal landscapes that map human presence against non-human survival.”
