Untitled-I
Plastic on the bed, wires on the wall, nobody home
Chalk-white plaster, cracked in thin grey lines.
A red lid, a green bottle, a blue label holding the light.
The small white box watches with its dark glass eye.
Under the shelf the shadow is deep as a well.
Clear plastic creases over the bed, keeping the dust for later.
Someone has gone. The wires still hang, waiting.
The work
Adarsh Mishra paints the corners of a home that nobody looks at twice. Here a rough plaster shelf holds jars, plastic bottles, stacked trays and a small white machine with a dark glass front. Below it, clear plastic covers a bed. A dark shadow on the wall looks almost like a person. Mishra works in oil and acrylic on a textured ground made by hand on the canvas. The cracks and lumps of the wall rise out of that surface. Mishra calls such spaces "neither noticed nor remembered."
In the artist’s words
“I work with ordinary spaces, the kind that exist in the background of everyday life, neither noticed nor remembered. What remains visible is not identity but something harder to name: a weight, a stillness. I am drawn to the spaces that hold memory long after memory has stopped being useful.”
