UNTITLED
A potato begins to sprout while no one is watching
Two beetroots hold up their thin purple veins like wires.
The ginger sits knuckled and pale, still smelling of soil.
A potato pushes out green eyes on its own slow clock.
The cloth sags under them, grey as washing left too long.
At the edge a single garlic bulb catches the last light.
Nothing here is cooked yet. The kitchen waits.
The work
Sneha K S comes from Changaramkulam in Malappuram. Sneha studies at the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication at the University of Hyderabad. This watercolour from 2025 is a still life of kitchen things: two beetroots with purple stems, a knot of ginger, a potato with small sprouts and one bulb of garlic. They rest on a folded white cloth against a dark background. Sneha's work looks at home and domestic space. Here plain objects become silent witnesses to a quiet moment.
In the artist’s words
“My practice resists fixed identity. It reveals multiple ways of seeing girlhood shaped by home, memory and domestic space. Elements such as scribbles on walls, mosaic floors, plastic dolls and clocks act as silent witnesses. They invite the viewer into moments of stillness where looking becomes recognition.”
