untitled
An orange eye opens inside a coil of dark violet
A dark violet curve folds over itself like a sleeping animal.
At its edge an orange circle burns, ringed with small brown teeth.
Pale cream and chalky blue fill the corners where nothing moves.
A spiral turns quietly on the right, cut into the ochre.
Below, a blue vessel holds a round brown sun.
Everything leans upward, unfinished, still deciding what it is.
The work
This untitled painting from 2025 is acrylic on canvas. Anurag, of Sir J.J. School of Art, Architecture and Design in Mumbai, makes it as part of an idea the artist calls Inner Landscapes. These are places made by memory, feeling and imagination. The painting does not show a real place. Curved shapes in brown, blue and dark violet press against each other. An orange circle sits near the centre like an eye. Anurag keeps every form open so each viewer can find a meaning.
In the artist’s words
“My paintings are about 'Inner Landscapes': the unseen spaces formed by memory, emotion, experience and imagination. Some forms appear like distant terrains, flowers, bodies or architectural fragments, but they stay deliberately ambiguous. The repeated circular forms can be read as openings, eyes, cells, memories or points of consciousness. This uncertainty invites the viewer to build their own emotional landscape.”
