Kalyani Kalakriti Foundation
p2
Step back and it turns grey. Step close and it sings
Grains of pink and green crowd together like rice spilled on a dark floor.
No grain is larger than another.
Stand back and they settle into the grey of a monsoon window.
Lean in and the grey splits open again.
A thin white line holds it all in, like thread tied around a parcel.
Inside, the colours keep moving.
The work
p2 is a work in gouache from 2015. It measures 50 × 40 × 12 cm. The surface is covered from edge to edge with tiny points of colour. Pink, green, violet and grey sit side by side. No single colour wins. From a step away they blend into one soft grey. Up close the grey breaks apart again. A thin white line runs near the edge and frames the whole field. The work comes from Gurgaon and is linked to study at UPES.
