inner landscapes
Three men cup their hands to listen, look and call
Grey lines on a pale ground, light as breath on glass.
One man leans toward a sound we cannot hear.
One makes two rings of his fingers and stares back at us.
One sends a word sideways, out of the frame.
Their checked shirts fade at the edges, still being drawn.
Small ceiling lights float on the glass like seeds.
The work
Inner Landscapes (2026) by Anurag is made of three frames. In the first, a young man cups a hand to his ear. In the second, a man makes rings of his fingers around his eyes and looks straight out. In the third, a man calls into his hand. Anurag trained at Sir J.J. School of Art, Architecture and Design in Mumbai. His city is Nagpur. He is interested in the visible and the invisible. Here that space sits in a hand held close to the face.
In the artist’s words
“My work is about 'inner landscapes': the unseen spaces formed by memory, emotion, experience and imagination. I am interested in the relationship between the visible and invisible, control and chance, presence and absence.”
