Nishkala Polamarasetty
Galaxy of flowers
Flowers drift through a night sky stitched with gold
Blue on blue, then deeper blue, the colour of water at midnight.
A thread of gold comes loose and wanders where it likes.
A sunflower turns, looking for a sun it cannot find.
The daisy lifts its white face like a small moon.
Some flowers are only outlines, pink and pale, half remembered.
Nothing here grows down into soil. Everything floats.
The work
Galaxy of flowers by Nishkala Polamarasetty is from 2025. It is painted in acrylic on a large canvas, 121.92 × 152.4 × 5 cm. Deep blues and sea greens fill the surface like a sky at night. Gold lines wave across it like loose ribbons. Between them float a sunflower, a white daisy, small pink flowers and blooms drawn only in outline. Polamarasetty is based in Visakhapatnam and is connected with Andhra University. The artist says nature teaches without words.
In the artist’s words
“I have always felt drawn to the things that share this earth with us: trees, rivers, flowers, insects and natural shapes. They are my teachers, though they never speak. Trees taught me patience. Rivers taught me to let go and adapt. This work celebrates the peace I find when I bring nature into my day.”
