Bhumika
Apart
One traveller rides near the clouds. The other stays on the ground
Plum at the top of the sky, then butter yellow, then a cold pale green.
A camel lifts its body on legs as thin as a brush handle.
Its ears open like dark wings.
Someone sits up there, wrapped and quiet, closer to the sky than the ground.
Below, a man in green leans on his crook.
A small white moon rests between them.
The cacti hold the edges.
The work
In Apart a camel rises on very long thin legs. Its ears open like wings. A rider sits high on its back near a plum sky. Far below a small figure in a green robe holds a staff. A pale moon hangs low between them. Bhumika works here in ink and watercolour. The work measures 75 × 55 cm. Bhumika is an artist from Bhiwadi and Amity University Rajasthan. She says the work is related to life. In two other series she experiments with her dreams.
In the artist’s words
“I was trying to create something related to life. In my other two series of work I was just experimenting with my dreams.”
