Kotha Revanth
Abandoned
Leaves are already climbing through the back wheel
Coffee settles into the ground like late afternoon.
Black ink knots the fence one diamond at a time.
The saddle still holds the shape of someone.
A coiled lock hangs there, guarding nothing.
Leaves push through the spokes and do not ask.
The front tyre has gone soft on the dirt.
The work
In Abandoned (2025), Kotha Revanth begins with a coffee wash for the background. Then he draws the bicycle and every other detail in black pen. An old bicycle leans on a wire fence. Its seat is worn and a coiled lock hangs below it. Leaves grow up through the back wheel. Behind the fence dark trees and a tiled roof sit in shadow. Kotha uses pen for fine lines. Here many small marks build the wire, the spokes and each leaf. The work measures 40.64 × 55.88 cm.

In the artist’s words
I am trying to explore my connection with the Naikpod tribal community and express our culture, traditions, memories, and relationship with nature through my art. I grew up surrounded by rivers, trees, animals, birds, and the natural environment of my village, and these experiences continue to influence the way I see and create art. My work is also inspired by traditional festivals and community practices such as Laxmi Devara and Pothuraju. As children, we made masks and participated in cultural activities, and these memories became an important part of my artistic journey. I use mask making as a way to explore identity, tradition, ritual, and memory. I am not trying…
