Two deer stand still while the world around them cracks

Green light settles on two backs like pond water.
The stag lifts his antlers into the empty air.
The doe turns her head and waits.
Plum leaves press in from the right edge.
Thin lines run through fur and leaf alike, turquoise at their edges.
The two deer keep looking at each other anyway.

The work

Ajay Kushwah paints two deer in oil. A doe turns her head. A stag with tall antlers looks towards her. Both stand in soft green light. Pink and plum leaves rise on the right. Thin raised lines cross the whole picture. They look like cracks or wire. Kushwah lives in Delhi. He loves the quiet of animals, birds and sky, far from the noise of the city. In his paintings he shows people how nature is changing.
