A Town Under a Tree
Up the trunk, a house hangs over empty air
Yellow leaves the colour of turmeric on a wet cloth.
A house hangs at the edge of a floating rock, tied to the branches by thin wires.
The stair falls down the trunk like a ribbon of light.
At the roots, towers wait in violet shade.
Paint drifts loose across the grain of the page.
Who lives up there? Who climbs down at evening?
The work
Aadeesh Jain is an artist from Alwar who studies at SOFA. A Town Under a Tree, from 2026, is made in digital watercolour and textures. It measures 99.8 × 70.11 cm. A tall tree rises through the picture. Near the top, a small house sits on a floating piece of land. A long stair curves down the trunk to a town of towers at the roots. Jain keeps to two colours, warm yellow and soft purple. Drops of paint drift across the textured white ground.
