Bhumika

The one who never left

A small house glows while someone watches from the far hill

Green so deep it is almost black, like a pond at night.
Thin trees rise on the left and do not end.
A small moon hangs in their branches, pale as lime.
One light line marks where the hills meet the sky.
A figure stands on the top, very still.
Below, a green house, a white fence, a lamp.
Someone waits on the roof, as if the house could not be left.

The work

Bhumika makes The one who never left in 2025 in acrylic mix on canvas. The painting is 60 × 45 cm. Bhumika is based in Bhiwadi and is at Amity University Rajasthan. In other series Bhumika works with dreams. Here the aim is something related to life. The whole canvas is a deep dark green. A small house glows near the centre. Tiny figures stand on its roof, beside a lamp and on a far mountain top.

In the artist’s words

“I was trying to create something related to life. In my other two series of work I was just experimenting with my dream.”
