Maitrey Ayare
The violinist
The only warm thing in the room is the music
Everything here is the colour of a late bruise.
The shirt, the ribs, the hollow cheek, all one purple.
Then the violin, gold and soft, melting at the edges like wax near a lamp.
The eyes are shut. The bow is a single dark line.
On the forearm, three red marks the music does not mention.
Notes float in the dark, faint as breath on glass.
The work
Maitrey Ayare of Chiplun studies at the School of Fine Arts and Applied Arts, MIT-ADT. Ayare loves paper and pencil and believes every idea begins as a rough sketch. The violinist is a digital work but the sketch stays alive in it. The lines are loose and easy to see. A thin player stands on a purple ground with closed eyes. Only the violin glows gold. Ayare does not hide imperfections. They are part of the way this artist speaks.

My drawings may have imperfections, but I don’t try to hide them because I believe those imperfections are part of my artistic expression. Through my drawings, I try to express my feelings, thoughts, experiences, and ideas. Some of my artworks are abstract because I feel that abstract art gives me the freedom to express emotions and thoughts that cannot always be explained through words or realistic forms. I…
