Ranjini A M
Flower seller
Her hands are full of flowers. Her eyes stay on you
Red wall. Blue wall. They meet in a line at her waist.
The yellow sari falls across her like late sun on a step.
Her hands sink into white flowers and gold bangles catch the light.
Each petal is a quick touch of cream, then a touch of brown.
She does not smile. She waits.
The strings spill off the table toward us, heavy and still.
The work
Flower seller is a 2023 painting in acrylic by Ranjini A M. It measures 90 × 60 cm. An older woman stands behind a dark table. Her hands rest in long strings of white flowers. Each flower is a small touch of cream with a brown edge. She wears a yellow sari over a pink blouse. Behind her the wall is red above and blue below. Ranjini often begins with something from daily life. This work stays close to it. Ranjini's college is SIES in Bombay.

Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, I use colour, symbolism, and surreal imagery to transform personal experiences and observations into visual narratives. My works often begin with something familiar—a human eye, a staircase, a doorway, a natural element, or an everyday object—and gradually move beyond reality into an imagined space. Through this process, I seek to reveal meanings that may not be immediately visible. My…
